Sunday July 18th, 2010

Today was definitely entertaining! We started to Makena to check out some new snorkeling spots. On the way we had the fabulous idea of mailing postcards (finally) and didn't realize until we were physically in the post office lobby that it was Sunday, duh! Makena has lots of beaches including "Big Beach" and "Little Beach." We started at Big Beach and it was huge and beautiful! Here's a picture:

Just over the rocks to the right of where we're standing is "Little Beach" or what the locals refer to as the clothing optional beach. Wow! That was fun! I can give you one guess as to why they call it "little beach!" ;) I don't know why it's so much fun to be at a nude beach but it WAS! It was a little hard not to stare at people...natural curiousity gets me every time! Here's a pic:

After our adventures at Big and Little beaches we stopped for a refreshing coconut! If you've never had fresh coconut (the water inside and the meat) you need to try it sometime. We didn't end up getting a picture because the vendor seemed a little shady and had a machete!

(Coral Gardens - another snorkeling location from today)

After a few more snorkeling stops we decided to head back to the hotel, dress up and go to a nice dinner. This is what we saw on the way:

(Shortafter we passed two fire trucks and other emergency vehicles on the way, thank goodness!)

Camron and I ended our night at The Melting Pot (fondue restaurant). If you haven't been to this restaurant it's a must do! It's a four course dinner that starts with a cheese fondue with bread and vegetables to dip. Next, you get a salad. Camron had asian chicken lettuce wraps and I got a delicious house salad (like a cobb salad). Next we got a zesty broth to boil meats in. The meats included various kinds of seasoned chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp. We also got mushrooms, broccoli, potatoes, and vegetable pot stickers to cook as well. At this point we were really full!

The last course was dessert! We chose a milk chocolate and peanut butter fondue to dip strawberries, pineapple, marshmallows, rice crispy treats, cheesecake, brownies, and bananas in. The people were so nice, they put the cheescake on our desert plate as a congratulation to our new marriage with a little candle lit on top. They also gave us a congratulatory card signed by everyone on staff! We got the royal treatment for sure. Camron and I were so stuffed we felt a little indulged by the end of the meal but it was absolutely incredible!

(A tropical passion fruit mai tai for me!)

(Third course dinner spread!)

Tomorrow at 5:45 a.m. we'll be arriving at the boat dock to go on a fishing trip! We hope to catch something big and exotic!
